Hi everyone,  and welcome to my website. For the most part this site provides information, video clips, audio clips and dates of my trios performances. You'll also find information about my other projects - most notably, The Little 5 Points Rockstar Orchestra.

First, a little about "The Trio".  Almost 4 years ago Kirk Hollingsworth (owner of The 5 Spot) approached me about playing at his club. I have to admit, at first I was very flattered but I didn't really see it happening. It took him about 3 months to convince me, with the final enticement being something like - "I'll give you the club for the night. You bring in any kind of group you want, start when you want, play as long as you want," and best of all, "play anything you want."

The group has always been called The Sam McPherson Trio with the nickname Redneck Jazz used almost as often.  Redneck Jazz comes from the range of music we play. The influences are jazz, blues and funk with a generous amount of rock attitude. The thread that ties it all together is my Telecaster guitar. The tone is total attitude and allows me to pretend I'm a horn section - I always said, when I grow up I want to be a horn section.

The Trio has a rotating membership made up of some of Atlanta's best bass players and drummers. And we have guest performers at many of our shows. Check out the "musicians" page for more info.

I hope you find the site entertaining, but mostly, I hope you'll join us at our next show. Feel free to send me an email and please join my email list. Email addresses are never shared and emails are only sent out for special events - typically about 6 emails a year.

Were performing:

June 27, 2009 (Saturday) - Big City Burlesque & Vaudeville at The 7 Stages Theater in Little 5 Points. We'll be performing 2 shows (8:00 & 10:00).  The theme for this show is film noir and the music will be revved up jazz and blues from the 50"s.  I'll be performing as Brother Sam and leading The Big City Burlesque Band.  These shows are very polished and usually sell out.  Come early grab a refreshing beverage at Java Lords and get a good seat - you'll be glad you did.
